The Core Payments Platform manages the accurate and prompt processing of payments. It also communicates with clearing and settlement mechanisms within our core markets.

We are currently in the active development phase of our next-generation payment systems and are seeking new team members for the New Payment Rails Instant Squad. The team is focused on integrating with the larger financial industry and concentrates on the instant payment pattern. It plans to start taking over from legacy systems in 2024.

With engineers based in Lithuania, Denmark, and India, the squad boasts a diverse range of experience levels. The team is eager to share knowledge, team up with you, and consider your perspectives on engineering approaches. All this while building some of the most mission-critical systems within the bank.

Mission

• Implement, evolve, and maintain applications that communicate and process clearing and settlement mechanism messages
• Participate in the entire cycle of software engineering, be heard in architecture, take ownership of simple to medium complexity solution designs, write code, review, and have your code reviewed, perform maintenance
• Work in a closely knit squad with teammates of all levels of seniority while collaborating with a large group of Java software engineers in the tribe
• Have a great support structure. Business functional specialists, product owners, architects and more to support your work
• Work on the underlying structure of the financial system in northern Europe. Some of the most critical systems of the bank will be developed by you. This also means that everything you do needs to be robust and easy to maintain for decades
• Take ownership of the service and be responsible for part of a system, take charge when things don’t go right
• Work with different tools and technologies: Microservice architecture, Java 17, Maven, Spring Boot 3, JUnit 5, Mockito, AssertJ, Cucumber, Apache Kafka (Kafka, Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect), Protocol Buffers, Elasticsearch, Jenkins, Argo CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, Git (Github)

Skills

• You have 3+ years of experience in Java and the supporting tools in the ecosystem (especially the ones we use)
• You have a strong understanding of OOP principles, common design patterns and software engineering practices
• You understand the importance of automated testing and are ready to assure quality of every solution using them
• Have a good understanding of how APIs work, their design principles and have experience of applying them in practice
• Understand and have some experience with message-based systems (especially ones using Kafka)
• You are aware of common CI/CD practices and are familiar with containerised applications on Kubernetes
• It is essential that you are proactive when collaborating with others, even when you don’t have day-to-day interactions with them
• You will feel best in this role if you like to iteratively tackle work: prioritising most important work first, and then keeping track of loose ends as you take care them
• Strong communication skills are essential for this role
• Advanced English skills

We will ensure that exact salary offered for you will be based on your qualifications, competencies, professional experience and requirements for the corresponding job function (salary range from 3480 EUR to 5220 EUR gross EUR/monthly).

Your title in job contract will be IT Software Engineer (Cloud Specialist).
