The role will require the right candidate to provide legal support to the leadership, partners and employees of EY member firms in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia (EY Baltic) with a primary focus to Lithuania in ensuring EY Baltics business activities are carried in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations and EY Global network’s policies and procedures. This position foresees working with EY Baltic colleagues in Service Lines and business support functions as well as cooperating with the Regional (CESA) and Global General Counsel’s Office (GCO) teams.
Your key responsibilities
- Contribute to ensuring legal compliance (e.g. labour law, anti-money laundering, public procurement, etc.), mitigating legal risks and protecting EY Baltic business legal interests
- Provide oral and written advice to EY Baltic leadership and employees on matters relevant for the EY operations
- Draft or review the firms’ contracts with clients, vendors, employees and other third parties
- Own GDPR compliance protocols
- Participate in the implementation of internal projects requiring legal input
- Participate in drafting internal regulation, policies and procedures, including adapting the EY global policies and procedures to the local specifics
- Monitor developments of legislation and notifying the respective firms’ leadership on changes as well as provide recommendations and clarifications
- Liaise with external law firms, governmental agencies and authorities
- Cooperate with other team members within Baltics, but also with CESA GCO and Global GCO teams
- Perform duties in strict compliance with EY internal regulations
Skills and attributes for success
- Knowledge of key Lithuanian and EU laws and regulations governing business activities of EY, including but not limited to Civil law, Corporate law, AML, Data privacy, Public Procurement law and Employment law
- Strong teaming skills
To qualify for the role you must have
- University degree in Law
- At least 5 years’ work experience as in-house lawyer of international company or at the law firm.
- High level of spoken and written Lithuanian and English
- IT literacy
Ideally, you’ll also have
- General understanding of the basics of the indicated laws and regulations in Estonia and/or Latvia
- Some knowledge of Estonian and/or Latvian languages would be a plus.
