Operations Manager (Accounting)

Position's Purpose and Areas of Responsibility

General responsibility of daily processes, performance, service levels and managing teams and Team Leads of AR, AP, GL and T&E processes. Support, organize and control accounting specialist’s work, as well as their professional development.

  • Supervising of team leads and managing teams
  • Team performance monitoring, workload balancing, manage problem solving
  • Managing resources/utilization (incl. balancing of cross-process resourcing)
  • Staffing and capacity management
  • Exceptions management, prioritization across teams
  • Service quality controlling: monitor service quality, initiate corrective actions when needed
  • Deviation management: resolving deviations to standard processes / service quality standards (when escalated by team leads)
  • Issue monitoring, prioritization, resolution and escalations
  • Meet customer service expectations measured through combination of consistent achievement of hard SLA and quality targets (KPI and best practice targets), and soft customer satisfaction indicators
  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly operational data and measurements are captured and reported accurately and are fit for purpose
  • Maintain an environment of excellence that fosters desired culture through effective communication, engagement, performance management, mentoring/coaching, training and rewards and recognition, interviewing candidates. Ensure suitable steps have been taken towards staff retention and talent development
  • Making decisions regarding hiring candidates and firing constantly underperforming team members
  • Build positive working relationships with the Business, internal and external customers
  • Support process harmonization & structured process development with Ops Excellence manager and GPOs and operational teams ensuring the business relevancy of the solutions (based on understanding customer needs and requirements)
  • Support in E2E process reviews, E2E process alignment and impact to GBS responsibilities
  • Participate and support (from GBS side) SAP/Basware/Concur or other systems related development projects
  • Review and keep up-to-date Finance framework and GBS roles and responsibilities
  • Participate in job interviews, onboarding new employees, in cooperation with HR and Team Leaders
  • Ensure that Personal Development Discussions are held on scheduled basis, clear targets are set, feedback provided
  • Support transition and manage new employees’ onboarding
  • Manage ramp-up and stabilization of process operations in GBS
  • All work needs to be conducted in compliance with Global Company guidelines, code of conduct, policies, procedures, audit controls and legal requirements
  • Execute all other position related tasks delegated by line manager

Basic requirements for the position
  • 5+ years of relevant experience of which 2+ years in a supervisory role preferably from a Shared Services / international environment
  • Finance (AP, AR, GL, T&E) process expertise
  • Excellent people management skills, customer service mindset
  • Solution and development oriented, problem solving skills
  • Drive for creating high performance culture
  • Good communication and presentation skills as well as teamwork and co-operation skills in a cross-cultural organization
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles, practices, laws and regulations
  • Process development/management skills (LEAN, process automation, etc.)
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
  • Advanced written and oral English. Other relevant language would be advantage
  • SAP, other accounting software and databases experience
