Geotechnical Lead - Design Project KPB - Vilnius, Lithuania

The position offers an opportunity to gain international experience and be a part of an innovative rail design team, working together to develop solutions for future railways. We are seeking for an experienced Geotechnical Lead.

Your Responsibilities:

Responsibilities encompass identifying the strategy to conduct surveys, monitoring the ground investigation campaign, preparing factual and interpretation reports, optimizing the geotechnical design e.g. foundation, soil improvement, approach embankment, etc. and mitigating execution risks, deploying the right approach and leading internal and external resources.

The role further entails:

• Define and manage the strategy for geotechnical and ground investigation surveys.
• Plan, supervise, and quality-check ground investigation campaigns, including subcontractors and laboratory testing.
• Prepare and review factual, interpretative, and geotechnical design reports.
• Interpret soil parameters and develop optimized design solutions (foundations, soil improvement, embankments, retaining systems).
• Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, national standards, and client requirements.
• Lead geotechnical design reviews, independent checks, and technical approval processes.
• Provide technical leadership across all geotechnical disciplines and project phases.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate geotechnical risks during design and construction, including on-site issue resolution.
• Support procurement strategies, define technical requirements, and oversee acceptance testing of geotechnical works.
• Lead and coordinate internal/external stakeholders and effectively communicate technical findings and recommendations

Your Profile:

• University degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience as a Geotechnical Lead in at least one completed railway design project of 1435 mm gauge and TSI verified railway, with at least one railway bridge or viaduct.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of civil and geotechnical engineering with practical supervision experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to build relationships with colleagues and provide geotechnical support in key sectors.
• Geotechnical experience including shallow and deep foundations, settlement assessment, retaining walls, ground improvement and slope stability analysis.
• At least 10 years' professional experience in the relevant field.
• Proficiency in both Lithuanian and English – B2 level minimum.
