Senior Backend Engineer Trust & Safety

The Trust Domain safeguards members from critical safety threats by building world-class safety tools and ensuring a secure experience on the Vinted Marketplace. It does so by detecting and restricting harmful activities. The domain consists of several teams focused on detection and actioning, enabling accurate identification and swift response to safety risks.

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to strengthen the detection capability. You will be joining the Detection Product team, with a mission to protect the Vinted community from harmful activities and content.

Here are some of the technologies we use:

Streaming platforms: Flink, Kafka.

Programming languages: Go, Scala.

Datastores: MySQL with Vitess, Redis

Observability: Grafana, Elastic, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry

CI/CD: Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Jenkins

• Work closely with data scientists and product managers to productionise detection logic, ML-driven solutions, and experiments.
• Improve the scalability, latency, and resilience of systems that process large volumes of streaming, behavioural, and risk signals.
• Contribute to experimentation and rollout mechanisms that allow the team to safely test and validate new detection approaches.
• Monitor your deployed code through tools like Kibana and Grafana.
• Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work and collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews.
• Own SLIs/SLOs in the product team to ensure quality and reliability.
• Be ready to partner across teams to prioritize and deliver results.

• You have solid backend engineering skills, with experience in Golang, Scala, or Ruby being a significant advantage.
• You are willing to learn and excel at streaming technologies and concepts. Flink, for example.
• You love to improve things, and if you see something that needs improvement, you actively bring it to the table.
• You enjoy working collaboratively in a team, giving and receiving feedback, and helping others grow.
• You are a good communicator who can talk clearly about complicated topics both with business people and engineers.
