Senior Platform Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Kafka Platform Engineer to join our team. As a Kafka Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and managing our Kafka cluster, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize Kafka solutions that meet the needs of our business. This is a key role in modernizing our application infrastructure and adopting industry best practices.

Mission

• Maintain the entire lifecycle of the Kafka platform, including installation, configuration, and upgrades
• Provide operational support for the Kafka cluster, ensuring high availability and stability 24/7 (on-call support)
• Engineer new capabilities, automate processes, and modernize the Kafka infrastructure
• Resolve complex performance or runtime issues related to the Kafka cluster
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and review products to meet the evolving needs of the platform
• Stay updated on industry trends, evaluate potential tools and applications, and maintain good vendor relationships
• Work closely with the engineering team to ensure seamless integration and alignment with other systems and platforms
• Develop and maintain procedures and tools for access, security, monitoring, and tuning of the Kafka cluster
• Utilize infrastructure as code (IaC) principles to provision and manage Kafka infrastructure
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in Platform Engineering
• Expertise in operating and administering Kafka clusters
• Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting of middleware technologies, applying them to infrastructure
• Proficiency in shell scripting and/or Python with specific experience in administering Kafka
• Proficient in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and frameworks for provisioning and managing infrastructure
• Experience with Java application servers on cloud platforms is a significant advantage
• Familiarity with container and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes/OpenShift is a bonus
• A team player with a good sense of ownership, motivation and willingness to take accountability and drive projects/tasks to completion
• Advanced written, verbal communication in English, and interpersonal skills

We will ensure that exact salary offered for you will be based on your qualifications, competencies, professional experience and requirements for the corresponding job function (salary range from 4000 EUR to 6000 EUR gross EUR/monthly).
