Job description:

As a Senior Java Developer, you will join a multi-national Agile squad responsible for building and maintaining the Access Gateway Connectivity component - a critical part of the Digital Euro infrastructure that ensures secure communication between systems across Europe.

You’ll work side-by-side with senior engineers, architects, analysts, and business experts from Lithuania, Spain, France, Germany, and other EU countries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the IT Lead with technical design and application architecture for the Digital Euro.
  • Design and develop modern Java applications based on microservices in cloud environments.
  • Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs that power scalable, resilient services with low latency.
  • Define, execute, and automate unit and integration tests with excellent code coverage.
  • Take part in Agile team ceremonies: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives.
  • Contribute to system operations, ensuring stability, performance, and reliability.
  • Draft clear technical documentation - especially API specifications - and keep it up to date.
  • Collaborate closely with operational and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of APIs and services.
  • Provide support for test and production environments - investigate and resolve issues in APIs and backend components.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the squad, sharing your ideas and best practices, particularly around API design and integration.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Senior Software Developer or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and REST API development.
  • Solid understanding of microservices, cloud environments, and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with Kafka, IBM MQ, or event-driven architectures (a plus).
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot, WebFlux, Vert.x, or Quarkus frameworks.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Company offers:

  • A unique opportunity to contribute to one of the most important digital transformation projects in Europe.
  • Fixed-term employment contract until October 2029.
  • Hybrid work model: work from home and modern Vilnius office (Žalgirio g.).
  • Collaboration with top European IT and financial experts.
  • Stable, international environment with clear development roadmap and quarterly deliverables.
